Shannon L Groh is a Master’s level Licensed Professional Counselor and a Michigan qualified supervisor for Counseling Interns and Limited License Professional Counselors. She is an Adjunct Professor in Psychology at Holy Cross College in Notre Dame, IN. She is a doctoral candidate completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology and is supervised by Janene M. Donarski PhD, LP.
She has over 11 years of experience working in the mental health field and has received training in a variety of evidence based therapeutic techniques such as Eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children 3-18, Motivational Interviewing, Interpersonal therapy, Family systems and attachment techniques, Substance and gambling addictions, Improvement in self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence, and a variety of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) techniques. Prior to moving into the mental health field, Shannon was an active duty research biologist for the U.S. Army and a cytogenetic technologist, she has been published in both of these fields.
She has experience working with adolescents, adults, elderly, Veterans, and military families. She is currently completing her dissertation which focuses on stress, coping, chronic illness, and family functioning.
Trained in counseling, clinical psychology, and psychological assessment, she has extensive training in the administration of psychological tests including, but not limited to, the Wechsler series, the Rorschach, Parental Stress Index, Coping Response Inventory, and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory 2.
Her areas of work and research interests include trauma, depression, anxiety, addictions, stress and coping, chronic illness, chronic pain, grief and loss, and anger management. She is also conducting a supervision group for counseling interns and Limited License Professional Counselors.
