Colleen Garcia, MA, LLPC, NCC is a limited license professional counselor and national certified counselor working with children, adolescents, and adults. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Counseling from Northwestern University. She also acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago in 2015. Colleen has worked in the mental health field for the last five years, as a counselor, a case manager, and a behavioral health technician. Colleen began working as an intern at Family Therapy & Development Centers prior to becoming licensed and working full time. She also had counseling internships at a private practice and an inpatient hospital unit.
Colleen uses techniques grounded in person-centered theory with skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She determines which theoretical techniques would be most appropriate for you and tailors therapy around your needs. She has focused the majority of her work on the treatment of bipolar disorder and personality disorders, but also has experience working with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, and substance use. Colleen believes in the concept that we are made up of both mind and body, and is looking forward to working with you to find a complete sense of peace.
When Colleen is not providing therapy, she enjoys travelling the world with her husband (the perfect travel buddy) and listening to music. She also has an extensive history of fine arts and is currently working to master the techniques of digital art illustration.
